Matt spent years building a career in corporate leadership and finance, developing expertise in strategy, operations, and systems. But over time, a deeper question began to surface: What kind of legacy will I leave? Will my work truly make a difference?
While wrestling with these questions, he encountered Banker to the Poor, a book that reframed his understanding of poverty, dignity, and economic empowerment.
“It hit me hard,” he says. “I knew I’d regret it for the rest of my life if I didn’t choose this path. And worse, I’d know I could have—but didn’t.”
That moment became a turning point. Out of it, he founded Light of the World Global—a way to apply his background in service of people, not just profit.
Today, he leads the organization with a focus on local leadership, practical solutions, and love in action, while continuing to pursue entrepreneurial projects and microfinance efforts that advance the mission.
